Introduction

During the annual convention and exhibit of the Construction Specifications Institute, which occurs in the summer of each year in various cities throughout the country, the Fellows of CSI hold their own annual meeting. This is an informal affair restricted to the Fellows and newly elected inductees. It provides an opportunity to meet long-time friends and the newly elected Fellows who are introduced to the gathering.

The meeting is presided over by the Chair of the Jury of Fellows, who sets the agenda for topics deemed of interest and importance to the assembled Fellows.

At the meeting in 1990 it was suggested that a "History of the Fellows" be produced in order to record pertinent information about those who have been elevated to Fellow status, and to record for posterity their qualifications and accomplishments. This proposal was met with great enthusiasm, as the time for such a publication was long overdue.

Accordingly, a committee was formed to pursue this task. The original members were:

  • Tom F. Sneary, FCSI, CDT, Chairman

  • Jorgen Graugaard, FCSI, CCS

  • Edwin J. Johnson, FCSI, CCS

  • Robert B. Molseed, FCSI, CCS

  • Edwin T. Pairo, FCSI, Honorary Member, Lifetime Member

  • Milton C. Potee, FCSI

  • Everett G. Spurling, Jr., FCSI, Honorary Member, CCS

  • Howard R. Steinmann, FCSI, CCS, Lifetime Member, CCS

  • Advisor and compositor for the publication: Hans W. Meier, FCSI, Honorary Member, CCS

Subsequent Committee Coordinators were:

  • Larry Craig Dean, FCSI, Life Member, Honorary Member, CCS, 1996, 1998, 2004, 2005

  • Sheryl Dodd-Hansen, FCSI, CCS, 2006

In 2006, it was decided to make the Fellows' biographies available on the Internet. The FCSI website was created by Sheldon Wolfe, FCSI, CCS, CCCA, in the fall of 2006.

Many other Fellows have offered their valued assistance and contributions to this endeavor. The dedication of all those involved is deeply appreciated.

The current document represents the efforts of many contributors and is intended to be an informative, useful reference which will be updated at appropriate intervals to reflect the ongoing history of Fellows of The Construction Specifications Institute.
